A man has been accused of attempting to rape a woman while onboard an easyJet flight between Italy and Britain. Nicola Cristiano, 45, is said to have carried out the sex attack on the moving plane on May 13 this year.
The incident occurred on a journey between the Italian city of Naples and Edinburgh Airport, prosecutors said.
The charge includes accusations that Cristiano repeatedly got the woman to touch him as well as an allegation he grabbed and pulled her towards him. He is also alleged to have kissed and groped her.
Cristiano allegedly exposed himself and repeatedly tried to get his victim to perform a sex act on him.
A short virtual hearing took place at the High Court in Glasgow today. Cristiano pleaded not guilty to the charge via his lawyer Tommy Allan.
After a brief discussion with Mr Allan and prosecutor Kath Haper KC on legal matters, judge Lord Scott said a trial could be fixed.
The case was set for January 2026 in Edinburgh. The trial could last around four days.
