A Sudanese immigrant accused of raping a university student after a night out took her phone and messaged her friends to tell them she was with her boyfriend, a court heard today.Samir Muhammad is accused of forcing the young woman to strip before pinning her to a bed and raping her after dragging her out of the Cameo nightclub in Bournemouth, Dorset, on December 5 2021.
The alleged victim later told police she had just one drink at the nightclub but soon afterwards felt 'really drunk' and 'out of it'.
Jurors at Bournemouth Crown Court have been told the then 17-year-old kept the girl trapped in his Sandringham House flat, blocking her from answering calls from worried friends.
She managed to share her location using Snapchat, alerting friends to where she was.
But Muhammad is said to have taken her phone as her friends tried to find her after she disappeared on the night out.
To put them off, he messaged them pretending to be the girl and said 'Yeah I'm sleep with my B ok,' it is alleged.
Believing that the defendant had grabbed her phone as she would not use that language, they replied stating 'We're coming to get you'.
The girl persuaded Muhammad to let her leave his flat as her friends were on their way, the jury heard.
When she was reunited with them she burst into tears and told them 'I was raped,' the court was told.
Muhammad is accused of dragging the vulnerable girl out of Cameo nightclub in Bournemouth and taking her to his nearby flat to rape her on December 5 2021.
Muhammad, now aged 21, is said to have kept the first year student there for over two hours before letting her leave.
The court heard today that her friends, who had been at the nightclub with her, began to worry when they could not find her in the venue or at her halls of residence.
Initially their calls to her went unanswered as she had run out of battery.
They were able to get through when she charged her phone in Muhammad's flat.
The court heard that he allegedly told her not to answer but she ignored him.
Giving evidence, one of her friends, who is not being named to protect the complainant's identity, said: 'We thought something bad had happened to her.
'When she got her phone turned back on, my friend asked her to put her location on Snapchat so we could walk towards her.'
Muhammad is alleged to have told her to tell her friends she was with her boyfriend and she started crying down the phone.
Growing increasingly alarmed, the friends sent her a message at 5.38am which read: 'Turn location on right now on Snap, we're coming to get you.'
Shortly afterwards they saw their friend walk towards them.
The witness said: 'We saw her as she was walking down the hill towards and we were coming up it.
'She was very hysterical. She was crying. We ran over to give her a hug.
'I asked if she had been raped and she said yes.
'She said he dragged her out of the club and forced her to do things she didn't want to do.
'I got upset too hearing this. We saw a police car and went over so she could report what had happened.'
Muhammad denies two counts of rape.
