REAL MADRID ‘TO CHANGE STADIUM NAME’ TO ABU DHABI BERNABEU AS PART OF £15M DEAL

The La Liga giants will reportedly change the name of their world famous Santiago Bernabeu stadium after entering into a partnership with an Abu Dhabi-owned Spanish energy company.

According to Diario AS, energy company Cepsa have won their naming rights to the Bernabeu after fighting off interest from the likes of Coca-Cola and Microsoft.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was caught on camera last year saying the stadium will be called 'IPIC or Cepsa, whatever they want' - referring to the demands of the Abu Dhabi government.
Ancelotti's men, who topped the revenue charts with £459.5m in 2013/14, will reportedly receive around 500 million euros in 20 years, giving them an extra annual income of 25 million.
However, the actual renaming itself is unlikely to happen until the stadium is remodelled, with planning permission for a £375m revamp on hold due to an ongoing state-aid related European Commission enquiry.
The Bernabeu was opened in 1947 and named after the club's legendary former chairman Santiago Bernabeu Yeste.
